HARPO COMMITTEES

Article 2.0 of the Heart of Alabama Rural Planning Organization’s Bylaws provides that Committees be appointed to govern and provide leadership. These Committees are charged with the authority to carry out the objectives of HARPO. Additional Committees and Subcommittees may be established when deemed necessary. Each committee consists of representatives from municipal and county governments, both elected and appointed, as well as members from the Regional Planning Commission, who function as staff for HARPO, and members from the Alabama Department of Transportation. Existing committees are the eleven member Executive Committee, which functions as the primary governing body of HARPO, and the thirty-six member Technical Advisory Committee, which identifies and recommends transportation projects within the rural areas.
