Senior Employment Services

Employment and Employment Training Opportunities for Older Workers - RPC operates two Employment Training Programs; one is a State Program sponsored by the Alabama Department of Senior Services, and the other, a Federal Program, sponsored by Senior Services America, Inc. The programs provide eligible applicants an opportunity to return to the workforce or enter the workforce for the first time.

The mission of the program is two-fold: first to assist community services agencies in addressing unmet critical needs through enhancement and/or expansion of their existing services; second, to provide training for transitioning into unsubsidized employment.

Training is provided by entering into partnerships with government agencies and non-profit, 501 c 3 organizations. These agencies are referred to as host agencies. They serve as training vehicles for the older workers placed with them. Once entering into the program, the applicant, who is referred to as an enrollee, is encouraged to seek every opportunity to enhance his/her skills and to learn skills that will lead to employment outside of the program. An individual Employment Plan (IEP) is developed with each enrollee. This plan sets forth action steps to move the enrollee off the program and into employment.

Federal regulations set standards that require the enrollee to actively seek meaning employment. This transitioning through the program frees up slots to afford other applicants the same opportunity.

If you would like to apply for participation in the Senior Employment Training Progam, please print and complete the RPC Placement Proposal Agreement form, and fax it to Sheila Baker at 205-264-8470. If you would like additional information about the program, please contact sbaker@rpcgb.org.
